Luca is a petite, dark colored black
and silver female. She is about 3 years old. She is
very sweet and already housebroken. She is loyal and
protective, and feels responsible for watching over her people.
Luca is very well obedience trained, and walks nicely on a
leash. She has a lot of energy, and would be a good jogging
partner. She is an athletic dog, and could easily jump a 6
foot fence. Luca prefers to be indoors, and likes to be
around people. Her ideal home would be with a family where
her people are home most of the day. Luca
was turned in by their owners because she was overly protective of
their baby. Luca decided that it was her job to be sure that
strangers did not get close to the infant, and she would
discourage anyone that she didn't know or trust from touching or
handling the baby.
This is a natural motherly
instinct in female shepherds. With proper training, and a
strong owner in the household, this problem could have been
resolved. However, Luca's owner did not want to take the
time to teach her when to stop being protective, so they gave up on her.
