Bear is a big, handsome, long-haired
black and red male. He is around 4-5 years old, and has lots
of playful energy. He is a big boy, probably weighing around
100 pounds. He gets along with other non-aggressive dogs,
including small dogs and puppies. He loves people and is very communicative. He is
good with children. Bear is housebroken.
Bear started
off life as a privileged puppy, bred from show-quality lines
in Germany. Shortly after arriving in the United States, he
was purchased from the breeder by someone who paid a lot of money
for him. A few short months later, Bear's owners were doing
some construction on their home and they grew tired of having a
puppy in the way. They gave Bear away to someone who worked
for them.
For the next 4 years, Bear spent
a miserable existence in a small backyard. He was covered
with fleas and ticks. This new owner proudly announced to us
that they had only been feeding Bear every other day, and had
gotten him "immune" to this treatment. Ultimately,
they turned him into the local shelter, stating that Bear no
longer had a home with them. His barking and desperate
whines had become annoying.
Bear is so loyal and loving, and is
desperately looking for someone to bond with. He has already
grown attached to our volunteers, so we know that he will bond
very closely with his new owner. Are you the person that
Bear is looking for?
Bear is currently in a foster
