Diego

Diego is a stunning German Shepherd who is beautiful, well behaved, as lovable as they come, and all around sweetheart. He is about 3 years old and about 70 pounds, but needs to put on weight. Diego can sit, shake, lay down, roll over and give kisses on command.  Diego was rescued out of a San Diego animal shelter on his last day.  We cannot imagine why his people did not come for him.  Diego will bond very strongly with his people.

When our volunteer got him out of the shelter, she spent some time with him at the office, and he got to go with her to pick up kids at school.  Diego does very well in the car, loves everyone and she said to tell you he will entertain the kids if you drive carpool.   In less than 2 hours he was already bonding with the volunteer and her daughter.  So much that he cried for them when they had to leave him to be boarded.  Given this fact, Diego will do best with a family that has plenty of time for him.  He would not do well being left outside alone.  Diego wants to be with his people and gets upset when he cannot make sure they are safe.  He should be fine alone for short periods while in the house, but does suffer from separation anxiety.  This is common in dogs that have been devoted companions and then find themselves dumped at the animal shelter.

Diego walks very well on leash (actually, he prances with happiness) and has excellent manners.  Diego is not good with small animals, and he is particularly fond of "duck", so no small critters please.  Is there room in your home and your heart for this very special boy?

Diego is currently in boarding.  If you wish to meet him, please send an email to ShawnGSDRescue@aol.com or call (714) 206-9002 and ask how you can arrange to meet Diego.
