John and Cabot

It's not often that we get extremely well trained and obedient dogs at the rescue, but these two dogs are just that!

John and Cabot are two handsome males, about 5 and 8 years old.  They are large boys with classic black and tan markings.  One is more of a dark black and tan, while the other has traditional colors.  Both dogs are off-leash trained, and very well behaved.  They are good with kids and even with cats.  They are housebroken, and are "practically perfect in every way".

John and Cabot's owner lost her home.  She was able to keep the dogs for a short time at a relative's house, but that relative is moving out of the country and the dogs had no where else to go.

We are often asked if dogs like this will ever bond to someone new, and the answer is "YES"!!!  German Shepherds do get very attached to their people, and many of them grieve when they find themselves separated from their family.  But they also have a huge capacity to love, and are very adaptable.  Once you win their hearts, they will be just as devoted to their new family as they were to their old one.  Please don't overlook adult dogs because you think they will not bond to you -- give them a chance and you will soon find that you have a friend and companion for life!

John and Cabot recently attended a big adoption event, where they were the perfect "greeters" for our booth.  They did an excellent job representing German Shepherds to all of the visitors who stopped by.
