Josie was found running loose in a field by a good Samaritan who could not keep her because he lived in an apartment that does not allow dogs.  Wanting to give this nice girl the best possible chance for adoption, he took her to a vet and had her bathed, spayed and vaccinated before bringing her to the shelter.  As luck would have it, one of our volunteers was just leaving the shelter as Josie was being led back to the kennel area.  Our volunteer had been checking on other dogs and stopped the kennel attendant to ask about Josie.  The good Samaritan overheard the conversation between our volunteer and the shelter attendant and stepped forward, offering to foster Josie with us if we would make sure she found a good home.  The shelter required that the dog be kept for 5 days in case an owner showed up to claim her.  Josie waited ... but no one came for her.  So, German Shepherd Rescue stepped in to find her a safe new home.

Josie is likely just a year or so old and very tall.  She is a bit on the thin side right now but should be stunning when she fills out a bit.  Her black and tan markings and intelligent face make her a truly pretty girl.  She rides nicely in the car and is very alert to what is going on around her.  She appears to be friendly and playful with other dogs and loves to have her ears scratched.

Josie is currently in a foster home.  If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out an application by clicking on the button below.
