German Shepherd
Rescue received a call on Mother's Day requesting we come and pick
up the family dog. Our volunteers heart nearly broke when she
found out why this wonderful dog was being given up...
Katie was in the back yard with the family Grandchildren (ranging
in ages from 11 months to 12 years) when a guest of the next door
neighbors jumped over the fence to retrieve a ball that had come
over the wall. Being a German Shepherd that was entrusted to care
for the children, Katie did what any German Shepherd would do --
she chased the intruder back over the wall. She did not attack
him, she did not bite him -- she simply made it clear he would not
be allowed near her "kids."
Our volunteer could not believe someone would give up this
beautiful girl for doing her job. Had the intruder been a
kidnapper intending to harm one of the children, Katie would be
their hero. Sadly, Katie only knew the children were alone in the
yard, that a stranger had jumped over the fence, and that she had
to protect her "flock." Doing her job cost Katie her home.
Katie is a beautiful 3 year old dark black and tan female. She is
AKC registered. Katie ADORES children, and is as loyal as they
come. She is good with other dogs. She is very confused at
losing her home and is desperate to find her forever family...
Katie
is currently in boarding.
If you wish to meet her, please send an email to ShawnGSDRescue@aol.com

Please note that we have another dog named Katie at the Burbank
rescue facility, so please be sure to state which one you are
interested in meeting.
