Macy

Hi!  My name is Macy.  I'm only one year old and don't know what it's like to have a family that cares about me.  I think I had a family at some point, but that was way too long ago for me to remember.  I've been without love and attention (and a good, healthy meal) for quite awhile.  I've just been roaming the streets looking for some food and someone to love me.

Just the other day, I took a break from walking and laid down to rest.  What I didn't realize was that I was laying in the middle of a busy two lane highway.  Boy, was I scared when cars started going by.  I laid there for a few minutes and thought someone would stop to help me, but they didn't.  Finally, someone stopped and got me out of the street.  I was sooooo excited!!  I jumped right into the car.  I got to spend the day with lots of really nice people.

They were a bit concerned about me because I'm so skinny and I have some open sores on me.  I really liked all the attention that I received and I was a very well behaved dog.  Then, I got to go to a place called The Vet!  I had never been to one of these before, but it wasn't too bad.  They told me that I was soooo infested with ticks that I had developed a skin condition.  So, this was why I was itching all the time!!  The vet said that I had more ticks on me than she had ever seen!  My skin was so bad that the vet had to shave 15 areas where I had sores.  OUCH!  I also had an infection in both of my eyes!

Macy was covered in ticks when she was rescued!

I'm feeling a bit better now that I don't have all those nasty bugs on me, but I have to let these sores get better.  The vet is taking really good care of me and she said I will be all better soon.  My bills at the vet's office are going to be pretty high, maybe you can help us pay for them!  I'm worth it...I promise!  The people at German Shepherd Rescue told me that I will get a family to love me and take care of me.  I sure hope that happens!  I promise I will be a really good girl and give you lots of years of love.  Can you give me the same?

Macy loves children and is very gentle with them.  She licked frosting off the face of a little boy in her foster home!  She is housebroken and loves to play with toys, especially balls.  Macy walks nicely on a leash and gets along very nicely with the two male dogs that she is sharing her foster home with.  We can not imagine who let this precious dog end up nearly dead on a freeway median.  Clearly, someone invested some time and effort in her at some point in her past, but they forgot that an ID tag could have been her ticket home.

Macy is in a foster home.  If you wish to meet her, please click on the button below and fill out our online adoption application.

The day she was rescued, Macy's skin and coat were in terrible condition.  Just look at her now:
