Snuffy

Snuffy is a 5 year old neutered male who just lost his "daddy" to a stroke.  Understandably, Snuffy is very confused at being alone because he had a beloved companion for many years.  He has been very well cared for, is housebroken, well-mannered and very handsome.  He knows his basic commands.  Snuffy can amuse himself for hours with a favorite toy.  He likes to "talk" to it while he plays with it by making all sorts of happy noises in his throat!  Snuffy is very intelligent and will intuitively be protective of his special person.

Snuffy is looking for a quiet, adult home, possibly with a retired couple or person.  He prefers a routine without a lot of commotion, and he would do best in a home without children as they tend to frighten this sweet guy.  In return, he will be a devoted and affectionate companion.

German Shepherds are sensitive and loyal dogs.  Whenever they lose their guardian, they go through a mourning period of about two to three weeks.  We have seen some shepherds refuse to eat for more than a week because they are feeling sorrow over the loss of an owner.  This is another reason that we work especially hard to re-home these incredible dogs.  After this period of mourning, the dogs settle into their new routines and adjust amazingly well.

We are often asked whether a shepherd can learn to bond with a new owner.  The answer is a resounding YES.  Shepherds have an enormous capacity to love and to trust their humans, and an innate need to be connected to someone.  Snuffy will make a wonderful addition to a lucky family.  Won't you please consider being the family that helps turn his sadness into happiness?

Snuffy is in a boarding facility.  If you wish to meet him, please click on the button below and fill out our online adoption application.
