Chance (aka Balto)

Chance is a big and handsome black and silver sable male.  He is very sweet, but a little shy when he first meets you.  He is particularly shy around men and very small children.  He is AKC registered.  He is around 5-6 yrs old, and probably weighs around 100+ pounds.  He loves to play ball, and will "play dead" when you give him a hand signal.  He is housebroken, obedience trained, and good with other dogs.  He loves attention and warms right up to you once he feels secure.  He would do best in a quiet home with an experienced shepherd owner.

Chance's original name was Balto.  His first owner moved away and left him and two other dogs in his son's care.  The son did not want any of the dogs.  We were lucky enough to get Balto into the rescue, as we believe that the son had the other two dogs put down.

Balto was adopted from our rescue, and his name was changed to Chance.  After being in his home for a year, his owner remarried.  The new husband was worried about Chance when their grandchildren came to visit, so Chance lost yet another home.  He is eagerly waiting for someone to adopt him and give him a stable, loving home environment.  He does not want to lose another home, as it is very hard on him emotionally.

We try really hard to make sure that every adoption is going to become the dog's permanent home.  It is so difficult for them to find themselves homeless again.  Before adopting any animal into your family, please consider what this means.  It means that you are taking in a new family member, one who will be a part of your family for the rest of his or her life.  Situations change, life happens, but that should not mean that you get rid of a valuable member of the family.  Sadly, Chance has now lost two homes during his life because his people let him down.
