When we found Escher, he was languishing in a crowded animal shelter in a cage with 3 other dogs.  His hindquarters were entirely without fur, except for a few dry, wiry wisps, and his skin was so irritated from scratching at fleas that it oozed.  We are working to restore this beautiful dog to his former glory and we suspect that he will be positively breathtaking once his body and spirit have mended.

In spite of his condition, Escher is a happy fellow with a good appetite, who doesn't mind just hanging out quietly with you.  He appears to like other dogs his own size, so soon we will see what he thinks of feline friends.  Escher was picked up as a stray in an area where many breeders are located.  He had no collar or tags and no one went looking for him when he ended up in a scary animal shelter.
