Rocket is a gorgeous black and
tan boy, approximately 10-11 months old. At 80 pounds, he is
robust and energetic with a lust for life. Rocket has not
had any formal training, but he is eager to please and will do
very well in a basic obedience class. He is strong and
exuberant, so we do not recommend him for a family with toddlers
or children under the age of six. Rocket has just arrived so
we are getting to know him better. Our first impression is
that he is not fond of small dogs or cats, but he may prove us
wrong over time. We do know that Rocket was very good during
his veterinary exam. Since arriving at the rescue, he has
been neutered, vaccinated, bathed and de-wormed. He seems to
enjoy all the attention that everyone has been paying to him!
While waiting to go into his boarding kennel,
Rocket did something very funny: Two volunteers were sitting on a
cement bench talking to each other. Rocket decided that he
wanted to join in and calmly hopped up between them and sat on the
bench as if he was a person! It was pretty comical to see
from the rear -- a human derriere, a dog derriere and another
human derriere all in a row -- but Rocket just sat there as if he
had something to contribute to the conversation!
Rocket was abandoned in a back yard with
an elderly cocker spaniel when a tenant was evicted.
Thankfully, neighbors became concerned and the landlord contacted
German Shepherd Rescue so that we could whisk this pup to safety.
Unfortunately, we learned that the cocker spaniel was taken to the
animal shelter because there was nowhere else for it to go .
Rocket is in boarding. If
you wish to meet him, please click on the button below and fill
