Please meet Shayna, an
11 month-old female Shepherd twist. She weighs approximately 77
pounds, is very sweet, loves people and children and gets along
with other dogs.
This is a heartwarming
story of how people work together to help save a dog in need. A
volunteer from German Shepherd Rescue was contacted to see if we
could help Shayna. Unfortunately it could not have been a worse
time because we’re currently overflowing with dogs. We also did
not have the funds to take care of the medical issues involved.
Well, the concerned
neighbor called again and said all the neighbors including a
little girl went door-to-door and raised enough money to pay for
Shayna’s medical expenses. After hearing this, there was no way
we could say no to these wonderful people who worked together to
save her.
This is Shayna’s story:
Until the Rescue came
along, Shayna knew nothing but a backyard and the part-time
companionship of the “man” of the house. She doesn’t appear to
have ever been walked, driven in a car, seen by a veterinarian, or
received proper attention. Her owners got her as a small puppy,
but didn’t want her anymore because she is too big. They wanted
to either dump her somewhere, or drop her off at the local
high-kill shelter where she would have been immediately euthanized.
In spite of her rough
start in life, she was well fed and somewhat cared for. Following
her rescue, she has been seen by the Veterinarian and is very
healthy. She is much happier now and ready to bond and become
loyal to her new "forever guardian". She wants to make-up for all
the lost time and explore the world. She would benefit from
obedience training and is very eager to please.
Shayna is currently in a
foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please click
