Meet Smokey...
During the recent fires here in
Southern California, a neighborhood had to evacuate. As the
Firefighters performed a final sweep to ensure that everyone had
been safely evacuated, they were horrified to find two beautiful
German Shepherd Dogs left in a backyard to die a horrible death by
smoke and fire.
How could someone save their TV
and computer, but leave behind cherished family members to burn to
death? The brave Firefighters quickly rushed these two
frightened dogs to safety. When no one came to claim, German
Shepherd Rescue received a call... Could we possibly help these
wonderful dogs? Our answer -- We're full, we're broke, we're
stretched to our limit... but we'll have a volunteer there
tomorrow morning to pick up them up.
Smokey and
Cinder
needed to be
spayed and neutered, and when the Firefighters found out the
expense involved in this they "passed the boot" to collect
donations to help get Smokey and Cinder spayed and neutered. As
is our policy, since the Firemen saved the dogs, they got to name
them. They felt the names Smokey and Cinder were a nice fit,
given what these furkids had survived. We would like to thank
Mark, Greg and Chad, the wonderful Firefighters for saving these
two beautiful and brave German Shepherd Dogs.
Smokey is a handsome 2-3 year old
black and tan male. He is very friendly and outgoing.
He gets along well with other non-aggressive dogs.
Cinder has found her forever family, but Smokey is still looking
for someone of his very own.
Smokey is in a foster home.
