This little sweetie
has such a heartbreaking story, but keep in mind she is now safe
with German Shepherd Rescue, and looking for her forever home...
One of our
volunteers was taking her own dog to the vets office and was going
to meet one of our wonderful supporters who wanted to meet Big
Joe. The vets office staff was talking about
a dog that had been thrown into a drainage ditch next to the
office. She had been living in the ditch for about 3 weeks.
After observing this terrified and starving dog, our
volunteer called Orange County Animal Control as this dog needed
help right away... An animal control officer finally arrived
and made one, half-hearted attempt to catch this little girl,
then left her behind. She was so frightened she would run
when anyone came near. We have also learned that boys in the
condos next to the ditch would throw rocks at her.

Our volunteer could
not sleep thinking about this poor abandoned dog living in a
drainage ditch without food or water. After a few attempts
to make friends with nice meals and fresh water (see the pictures) our
volunteer gained this little girls trust. After inhaling her
food she would come to the chain link fence and give our
volunteers hand gentle kisses of thanks through the
fence. She would come out a little more each time...
After one meal, our little friend hesitantly followed our
volunteer back to her vehicle. When our volunteer opened up
her car door, little Lulu Belle was following in a safe distance.
Our volunteers said "You want to go bye-bye?" That
was it, Lulu was in the car!!! We rushed her to All-Care
Animal Referral, a 24 hour emergency clinic where she was given a
clean bill of health. Lulu Belle has known only cruelty and
heartless treatment from humans. We are showing her love and
kindness. When our volunteer called our founder to tell her
about Lulu (who does not have a drop of German Shepherd Dog in
her) our founders response was... "She's with us
now!!!"
Lulu Belle is
a Australian Blue Heeler mix. She weighs a petite 37 pounds,
is around 12 months old, and is just a love. She is looking
for a family that will love and cherish her forever... After
only 2 days with German Shepherd Rescue, she is already learning
to trust people. When her rescuer went to visit with her,
Lulu did the sideways walk wiggle-wiggle tail wag. This
little sweetie is going to make someone a very devoted, special
little girl.
We have been told
that we are not doing Lulu Belle any favors, as no one is going to
look on German Shepherd Rescue's website and adopt an Australian
Blue Heeler mix, but we think they're wrong... Who gets to
prove it?
Lulu Belle is in a
