Midnight is a gorgeous and sweet black AKC Registered German
Shepherd. Her full registered name is Frank's Midnight and her
birthday is September 21, 2002, making her only about 15 months
old. She was purchased as a puppy from a breeder and her new
owner's actually spent the time and money to register her through
the American Kennel Club. Approximately 10 months after she was
purchased, there was a death in the family and her owner was
forced to put an ad in the paper "Free to Good Home". Poor
Midnight had the terrible misfortune of being given to an abusive
home.
German Shepherd Rescue received a desperate call from another
animal rescue group who had just picked Midnight up from her
horrible situation. It seems that when Midnight started to "herd"
the family goat like her shepherd instincts told her to do
(chasing him), the new owner was going to hit her with a shovel.
The neighbor had finally had enough of his abuse of animals and
stepped in to get her into a rescue group that would help her find
happiness. We are determined to right the wrong that was done to
this innocent girl.
Midnight is spayed and current on all shots. We discovered that
she lost over 20 pounds during the few months she was in this
abusive home. Despite all she went thru, she has a beautiful
shiny coat and has already come out of her shell. Midnight will
be a big girl when she is fully grown. Her father weighs 130 and
her mother 95 pounds, so Midnight might still have some growing to
do.
Midnight arrived into our care trembling and terrified. Our team
has been working with her to help her remember that people can be
kind. She is looking for a loving home with someone who will
treasure her and respect her for the beautiful creature that she
is--someone who will understand that she is confused and afraid,
and that she needs time to heal emotionally. Midnight likes to
lean on you for reassurance when you stand next to her, and she
has a gentle disposition. She has had some obedience training and
walks nicely on a leash. She loves children, other dogs and even
horses, ducks and pigs. She gently kissed the pig on the nose
thru the fence.
Please! Do your homework and research before giving a pet away to
make sure your pet is in a loving and caring home. Better still,
do not take on a pet unless you can make a lifetime commitment to
that animal! Pets are not disposable commodities or the latest
new "toys".
