Sometimes
a dog comes along that is so sweet and so loving it just takes our
breath away... Remington is that kind of dog. This
darling boy is like a Golden Retriever in a German Shepherd's
body. He just adores everyone he meets, both 2 and 4 legged.
He even gave kisses to a little Lapso. We also think he
would be just fine with cats.
Here is a little about Remington... Remington is a purebred
coated German Shepherd and he is about 18 months old. Somehow this
beautiful boy ended up in a very high kill shelter. German
Shepherd Rescue had sent a volunteer to the shelter to rescue
another dog when Remington caught her eye. She put out a
plea to spare this darling boys life. Even though we were
beyond full, we made room. In fact, one of our volunteers is
personally paying his board at her vet's office in order to save
his life. Remington is about 18 months old and is what is
called a "Coated Shepherd". They are known for
their gentle disposition and Remington is as gentle as they come.
He is the perfect passenger in the car, and can also Sit, Shake
and Lay Down. On a recent afternoon while walking at Central
Park in Huntington Beach, he was the hit of a Girl Scout event --
especially with the little Daisies (Girl Scouts who are still in
kindergarten). They surrounded him and he was just thrilled.
Remington will bond very strongly with his forever family.
When you take him for a walk, every few feet or so he turns to
check on you. He knows how to "sit",
"shake", and "speak". This is one very special boy. Remington
is also very smart. After a walk, our volunteer had
forgotten to bring water for him. She took him over to the
drinking fountain and turned on the water. Remington put his
big paws up there and got himself a drink of water :-)
Remington is a young dog and that means a commitment of at least
10 to 12 years. If you cannot commit 100% please do not
apply. Life changes, the love and devotion of a dog never
does....
