Occasionally, German Shepherd Rescue receives a phone call that we think must be a prank. The call to help Yahtzee was one of those calls... A man who lives in Pahrump, Nevada, decided he no longer wanted his German Shepherd. He didn't find the dog a new home, he didn't so much as call Animal Control to come and get the dog. He simply took this poor dog and threw him over the fence, locking him out of the yard. Yahtzee sat in the beating sun in Nevada in August (115 degrees) without food or water, waiting for his owner to let him back in. When he began to cry and scratch at the gate, the man threatened to shoot this poor dog. A good Samaritan and neighbor, Sarah, could not stand by and watch any longer. Sarah went and got poor Yahtzee, brought him into her house, and gave him food and water. Not knowing what else to do because she could not keep Yahtzee, Sarah called our rescue and asked for our help... This poor kid had survived the desert heat without food, water or shelter for over two days. Even though we are beyond full, we just had to help this deserving boy... One of our volunteers mobilized two of her company drivers to transport Yahtzee. He has a will to live and more heart than any lion. He is about 4-5 years old. He loves people, is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. He seems to get along with other dogs just fine. Yahtzee is such a goof. He's a heart with legs -- so trusting and so anxious to please. He will make someone a devoted and loving companion... **Though Yahtzee was adopted from us two years ago, he has recently been returned to us and is now looking for a new home as a special needs dog. He has recently been diagnosed with epilepsy and is in need of a home that is willing to provide him with his daily medication. He is a sweet and very affectionate boy who's timid at first but always loving.** Yahtzee is at our Burbank facility. If you are interested in meeting him, please fill out the online application.
