It’s a wonderful time to adopt a dog!
The kids are in school and the weather in Southern California is cool and sunny. It’s the perfect setting for you to spend some quality time with your new family member as they settle in to their new home and family. It’s not too hot and not too cold to get out in the morning and evening for a nice rigorous walk or jog. And while the kids are gone it’s a great opportunity to work on obedience basics and setting the rules for the household. Your new pup will love to curl up in a quiet corner for a doggie nap before the kids come home and the adults get off of work so he’ll have lots of energy for playtime! A few tips: If you’re interested in one of our dogs fill out an adoption application ahead of time to give us a chance to review and process it so we can find the right pup for your family when you arrive at the Rescue. It’s helpful to bring the whole family to the Rescue, especially your current dogs, so we can make sure the new dog will fit in with everyone. As your new shepherd is settling in it’s very important to go on consistent structured walks with his new pack leaders every day. This helps to establish a bond with his new family and is a wonderful activity that everyone will enjoy.
We have a lot of young friendly dogs at the Rescue right now who just can’t wait to meet you! They would love to spend the rest of their lives with you and your family. Come by to meet them every Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 5pm.
When it comes to doggy beds, not all of our dogs are as lucky as C.J.
We’re making a special donation request for Kuranda Beds for some of our dogs. They are a comfortable, elevated, chew-proof, easy-to-clean dog bed that lifts the dog off the cold hard concrete and provides firm orthopedic support for older dogs or dogs with joint discomfort. It would be a valuable donation that would last for years to come and benefit many dogs while they wait for their forever homes (and forever beds). The Large or X-Large would be ideal for German Shepherds. You can use the link below to get a special rescue discounted price. Thank you from all our pups!
