Scout was found as a stray and sent to East Valley Shelter. From the moment we saw him he was all kisses and “get me out of here”! He was quickly estimated to be around 3, but after getting to know him and seeing his pearly white teeth we think he could be just a puppy. He has been so neglected that it is hard to tell. The vet said he has never been properly cared for because it takes years for ears to get that bad out here. The wonderful thing about Scout is he has no ill will towards anything. He thinks animals and people should all love him because he loves them unconditionally.
Even though Scout is new at the Rescue, we already know quite a bit about him. He has no sensitivity to being handled. When we doctor his ears and check his weight he is just happy to be getting some attention! He LOVES to play ball. If there are two balls he stares at them wondering how he can play with both of them at one time! He thinks this is the biggest challenge in his life.
Having had no training, he is truly a clean slate. This is very difficult to come by in shelter dogs. Rescues all come with some baggage due to their predicament. Scout has no idea that he is even in a rescue facility. Wherever he is, he is home and loves everyone. This is truly special because the family that gets to work with Scout is practically getting an 8 week old puppy to train….Scout is just a little bigger.
